「矯正」と聞くと、歯にワイヤーをつけて何年も通院するイメージが浮かぶかもしれません。
もちろんワイヤー矯正は確立された治療法ですが、お子さまの場合、もうひとつの選択肢があります。
それが「MFT（筋機能療法）」と「マウスピース矯正」の組み合わせです。
MFTは、舌の位置、唇の閉じ方、飲み込み方、呼吸の仕方を正しく整えるトレーニングです。歯並びが乱れる「原因」そのものにアプローチします。
マウスピース矯正は、お子さま専用に設計されたマウスピースを装着することで、歯列を整えると同時に、正しい筋肉の使い方を身につけるサポートをします。
この2つを組み合わせることで、とても大きなメリットが生まれます。
まず、原因から治すので後戻りしにくい。ワイヤー矯正では、装置を外した後にリテーナー（保定装置）を長期間つけないと歯が元に戻ることがあります。でも、MFTで正しい筋肉の使い方が身についていれば、筋肉が自然に歯を正しい位置にキープしてくれるのです。
次に、成長の力を利用できる。成長期のお子さまは顎の骨がまだ発育途中です。この時期にMFTで正しい刺激を与えると、顎が十分に広がり、歯が自然に並ぶスペースが生まれます。大人になってからでは、骨の成長は使えません。
そして、お子さまへの負担が少ない。ワイヤーのような見た目の問題がなく、痛みも少ない。マウスピースは取り外しができるので、食事や歯磨きも普段通りです。

When you hear the word "orthodontics," you may picture wires attached to your teeth and years of visits to the clinic.
Of course, wire braces are a well-established treatment, but for children, there is another option.
This is a combination of MFT (Myofunctional Therapy) and mouthpiece orthodontics.
MFT is training to correctly align the tongue position, lip closure, swallowing and breathing. It approaches the very "cause" of misaligned teeth.
Mouthpiece orthodontics helps children learn how to use their muscles correctly as well as align their braces by wearing a mouthpiece designed specifically for them.
The combination of the two offers very significant benefits.
First, because we fix the cause of the problem, it is difficult to go backwards. With wire braces, teeth can revert if retainers are not worn for a long period of time after the braces are removed. But if you learn how to use your muscles correctly with MFT, your muscles will naturally keep your teeth in the correct position.
Second, we can harness the power of growth. In growing children, the jawbone is still developing. If we provide the correct stimulation with MFT during this period, the jaw will be fully expanded, creating space for the teeth to line up naturally. As adults, bone growth cannot be used.
And it is less stressful on the child. It does not have the appearance problems of wires and is less painful. The mouthpiece is removable, so eating and brushing teeth are as usual.
